Popeyes’ Honey Chicken Biscuit featuresĀ a crispy-fried chicken breast filet served on a larger version of the chain’s signature buttermilk biscuit. Each sandwich comes with two packets of sweet honey sauce.
I paid $5.49 for the sandwich. I also bought a regular biscuit for $1.29 for a size comparison:
While the sandwich was bigger than Popeyes’ rather small regular biscuit, it’s roughly the size of a biscuit breakfast sandwich from Wendy’s or McDonald’s. The biscuit was moist but also moisture-wicking and slightly crumbly. There was a nice butteriness to it.
The chicken breast filet sported the same light, flaky crust as Popeyes’ regular fried chicken, tenders, and chicken sandwich. It fit the biscuit and was super thick, especially compared to the biscuit. The chicken inside was tender and moist. The flavor was pretty mild.
The honey sauce tasted and felt remarkably like real honey (it’s a mix of corn syrup, honey, sugar, water, natural flavor, and caramelized sugar syrup[sugar and water]). It went well with the milder flavors of biscuit and chicken.
Altogether, Popeyes’ Honey Chicken Biscuit was pretty good. Both the chicken and biscuit were tasty with good textures, and the honey sauce went well with them. There’s a bit of a problem, though: the Chicken Sandwich is almost double in size and costs 50 cents more near me. Given the similarities, I’d have a hard time picking the chicken biscuit over the chicken sandwich.
