Home Plate Dairy, Stewartsville, New Jersey
In a small farming town in wesrtern New Jersey you will find the Home Plate Dairy, a baseball themed shop with a walk up window and outdoor seating. Accompanying the great selection of hard and soft ice cream flavors, are vegan and no sugar options. The ice cream comes from a supplier with regularly changing flavors.
The flavors are listed on baseball shaped cards. I had Peach Ice Cream and Lemon Bar Ice Cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. We enjoyed our generously-sized sundaes an outdoor picnic tables – nice place ot visit on a Sunday afternoon.
In the area: Stewartsville is in western NJ, which is a beautiful area with farms and delightful scenery. Today we enjoyed a visit with the grandkids to Heritage Park.
Heritage Park, Asbury, New Jersey – I love playgrounds – we could really use adult public swing sets. This park was designed for kids, so I brought my favorite ones with me, but adults can play here too. The really cool climbing structures were creatively made so kids could safely climb on them, going high inside safety nets and slide down spiral slides.
The well-maintained playground also had swings, merry-go-round-type-turning-things, gear turning manipulatives, and musical instruments – I tried playing some tunes on the marimba with a child accompanying me on drums. So many fun things in one spot for kids and young adults (like me)! There was even a section specially designed for children under 5, but as would be expected, all children over 3 wanted to play on the big kid stuff.
The park also had plenty of fields and nice walking paths. There really was something for everyone, and bringing a small child is optional.
